Elden R Syrup

Elden R. Syrup, age 80 of Park River, ND, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Elden R. Syrup was born April 7, 1934 in Cavalier County, ND, the son of the late Harold and Sarah (Buckley) Syrup. He grew up and attended school in Walhalla, ND. Following his education, he moved to the Park River area, began trucking with his cousin, and later operated his own trucking and gravel business. He was united in marriage to Esther Kristjanson on April 14, 1956 near Mountain, ND. The couple made their home in Park River. He later owned and operated Syrups Polaris Sales & Service in Park River, worked in sales for Larson Chevrolet, and operated a snow removal business, retiring in the late 1990's. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River, and a former member of the Park River Fire Department. He enjoyed attending bible studies, spending time outside in the garden, playing cards and analyzing the horse races. Elden is survived by his wife Esther of Park River, ND, children: Dan (Connie) Syrup, Grand Forks, ND, Diana (Charles) Lindquist, Hettinger, ND, LaRae (Greg) Langerud, Horace, ND, and Mike (Yolanda) Syrup, Park River, ND, 13 grandchildren: Andrew, Danielle, Stephanie (JR), Gregory, Anna, Luke, William, Michael, James, Erik, Kaitlin, Logan, and Landon, 1 great granddaughter Heidi, sister Evie Mae (Harvey) Clark, Walhalla, ND, half-brother Steve of Grand Forks, ND and half-sister Charlene of California. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Kenneth. Funeral services will be Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River.
