Elaine Kadlec

Elaine Kadlec, age 88 of Fargo, ND and formerly of Pisek, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo. Elaine Horejsi Kadlec, the daughter of the late John and Philamine (Hladik) Horejsi was born on March 14, 1925 in Grand Forks, ND. She was reared in Lankin, ND attending school there. She was united in marriage to Ludger Kadlec on November 26, 1942 in St. Edward's Catholic Church in Nekoma, ND. They made their home in Rushford Township (rural Pisek), where they farmed. Elaine was employed at St. Ansgar's Hospital as a nurse's aide and Melvin's Men's Store both of Park River, ND. She also cooked at the Pisek Public School and Alexander House in Park River. Ludger passed away on September 16, 2012. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Pisek where she was organist for 28 years. She was also a member of the Pisek American Legion Auxiliary and the Homemakers in Fordville and Pisek. She served as secretary for the District 3 NPL for several years. Upon retirement Ludger and Elaine wintered in Mesa, AZ where she enjoyed baking, cooking, entertaining, music and dancing. She is survived by her sons: Lawrence (Patricia) Kadlec and Rodney (Audrey) Kadlec, both of Pisek, ND, Gontran "Buster" (Connie) Langowski, Hazen, ND; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, sister Jeanette Bozekowski, Dickinson, ND, and brother Roman (Joy) Horejsi, Park Rapids, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Kathy Thoreson. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Nepomocene Catholic Church of Pisek, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 with a prayer service at 5:00 P.M. at the church. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery of Pisek.
