Elaine “Gummy” Brodina, age 91 of Grand Forks, and formerly of Lankin, ND, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks.
Elaine Machovsky was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Rumreich) Machovsky on December 20, 1924. She grew up in Pontiac, Michigan where she attended school. In 1932, she moved to Pisek, ND. On June 12, 1944 she married Jerry Brodina of Lankin where they made their home.
She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Elaine is survived by her daughters: Janice Brodina and Cynthia (Bruce) Iverson; Grandchildren: Shosti (Donny) Salamone, Brian (Lacey) Brodina and Shantelle (Lee) Smith; Great-grandchildren: Mila and Finley Salamone; Shayden, Talan, Reigan and Keegan Brodina, and Rhett, Jillian and Jude Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery of Lankin.
