Eilene Nygard

Eilene J. "Ike" Nygard, age 87 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Eilene J. Mohagen was born September 13, 1921 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Ingvald and Julia (Warlof) Mohagen. She graduated from Grafton High School  and attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. She worked at banks in Fargo and St. Paul, MN and during World War II she moved to LaPorte, IN where she worked as a secretary in a munitions factory. She returned to Grafton in 1945. Eilene was united in marriage to Harris Nygard on September 22, 1946 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton where she worked as the secretary for the New View Cable Company.  Eilene, an avid golfer, gave golf lessons to the youth of Grafton and had the annual Roadrunner Golf Tournament for Junior Golfers in Grafton.

She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and WELCA, the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary and the Fair Oaks Golf Club. Her greatest joys included her husband Harris of 63 years,  her grandchildren, music, being a friend and spending time with her friends and family at their Pelican Lake MN cottage.
