Edna D. Gunhus, age 85 of Moorhead, MN and formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Eventide Nursing Home of Moorhead, MN.
Edna D. Thompson was born January 23, 1924 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Chester and Mary (Vogel) Thompson. She attended elementary school in Mandt, ND and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, ND. Edna was united in marriage to Wallace Gunhus on September 17, 1948 at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Hoople, ND. The couple lived in Fairdale, Hoople and Park River, ND. In 1981 they moved to Grafton, ND. Edna was the Canteen Supervisor at the Grafton Developmental Center for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. In July of 2004 the couple moved to Fargo, ND and in October of 2008 she moved to the Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN.
Edna is survived by her husband Wallace of Moorhead, MN; children: Judy (Art) Knudson, West Fargo, ND; Don (Cathy) Gunhus, Fargo, ND; Joan (Craig) Walstad and Bob (Janet) Gunhus, both of Longmont, CO; Janet (Khalifa) Al-Rayes, Doha, Qatar; 16 grandchildren and brother Wallace (Lucille) Thompson, Park River, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sue Ann and siblings: Thomas, Irene, Ernest, Betty, Robert, Chester and Emmett.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hoople, ND.
