Edna Mae Bellerud was born to Ben and Emma Kjenstad in Vang, ND on October 30, 1934. The family later moved to Park River area where she graduated from Park River High School in 1952. She married Alfred Bellerud on June 28, 1952. They were married 18 days shy of 68 years. They were blessed with two children, Pamela Jayne and Paul Wayne.
After living in Texas for 2 years while Alfred was in the army, the couple moved back to the Park River area for a few years, then to Thief River Falls, MN where Edna was employed by Bjorkman’s Inc. for 16 years. They then moved to Mandan, ND where she was employed by the Department of Human Services for 15 years. Upon retirement, they moved back to Park River, ND.
Edna was a great friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She loved to crochet, draw, paint, write poetry, do puzzles and crossword puzzles and play games until the wee hours of the morning. The couple traveled to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. A few winters were spent in Arizona and Texas.
Edna will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Alfred; children: Pam (Charlie) Olson and Paul (Vickie) Bellerud; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also, her sister-in-law, Helen Olson; brother-in-law, Bernt Bellerud and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Emma Kjenstad, siblings: Gladys (Bob) Carpenter, Evelyn (Robert) Roseno, John (Jean) Kjenstad and Lowell (Myrna) Kjenstad; nieces: Bonnie Lembke and Rose Marie Bellerud and nephews: Lauren Roseno, Ronnie Kjenstad and Calvin Olson. Also, her father and mother-in-law: Mads and Alvilda Marie Bellerud; sisters-in-law: Anna (Ben) Setness and Marilyn Johnson-Bellerud; brothers-in-law: Melvin (Eunice) Bellerud and Freeman Olson.
Edna passed away on June 10, 2020 at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 11 days.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River. There will be a visitation time one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are encouraged.
