Edmund R. Jiskra, age 85 of Minto, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
Edmund Robert Jiskra was born November 13, 1940, to Frank and Justine (Svoboda) Jiskra at Deaconess Hospital in Grafton. Edmund was raised on a farm between Minto and Warsaw. He graduated from Minto High School. After high school, he enlisted in the army and went to Germany and France. He was a photographer and was honorably discharged.
On July 18, 1964, Edmund married Ann Marie Osowski. They had three children, Susan, Carla, and Wayne. Edmund was employed by Williamson’s Dairy of Grafton and Cass Clay. He was the “milk man” in the area for many years.
Fishing at Northwest Angle, Lake of the Woods, was his passion and the family has many special memories from weekends at the lake. He was also very proud of his service to the country. Most of all, Edmund was proud of his family. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edmund is survived by his wife, Ann, and their three children: Susan (Don) Barclay, Carla Jiskra, and Wayne (Serena) Jiskra; Grandchildren: Kayla Barclay, Rebecca (John) Crooks, Amanda (Koby) Sway, Sarah (Alek) Berg, Adam (Larissa) Barclay, Lindsey Jiskra, Gavin Jiskra, Blaise (Alyssa) Lorenzen; Great-grandchildren: Olivia, Shay and Carter Sway, Charlotte, Briar, Benton and Becker Berg, Adeline, Brielle and Celeste Lorenzen; his brother Marvin (Marlene) Jiskra and many nieces and nephews.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert, Francis, Florian, and John and sisters Rose Mae Gilbertson and Cecilia Leder.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the Tollefson funeral home website.
Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post 201 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
