Edith A. Gierszewski

Edith A. Gierszewski, age 100 of Grafton, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Serenity Assisted Living Center, Dilworth, Minnesota.

Edith A. Sevigny was born September 18, 1924 in Oakwood, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Leon and Clara (Dumas) Sevigny.  She attended school in Oakwood.  Edith was united in marriage to Conrad Gierszewski on September 28, 1943.  The couple made their home in Drayton, North Dakota.

She was a member of the St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Drayton.  She was an active member of the church.  She was a member of the Altar Society, sang in the choir, taught religion class and was also a Eucharistic Minister.

After her children were grown, she moved to Grafton, North Dakota.  She loved life and loved entertaining friends and family and visiting people who lived at the Lutheran Sunset Home.  She loved praying the rosary and praying for everyone.  She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church during her years in Grafton.

She moved to Dilworth, Minnesota in 2016.  She enjoyed participating in all the special events that Serenity Living Center provided.  She was an avid lover of playing cards, playing checkers, singing and dancing.

Edith is survived by her children:  David (Judy Ann) Gierszewski, Moorhead, MN; Adeline Gierszewski, Bismarck, ND; Mary (Clifford) Bailly, Grafton, ND; Agnes Ryan, Grand Forks, ND; Theresa Pladson, Grand Forks, ND; Mike (Joyce) Gierszewski, Fargo, ND; Jim (Carol) Gierszewski, Grand Forks, ND; Lorraine (Steven) Michels, West Fargo, ND; Charles Gierszewski, Grand Forks, ND; Lawrence (Sherri) Gierszewski, Grand Forks, ND; Donna Retterath, Dilworth, MN; Helen (Darcy) Stanley, Fargo, ND; Joe (Connie) Gierszewski, Grand Forks, ND; Rose (Rick) Miller, Grafton, ND; Mark (Jill) Gierszewski, International Falls, MN; 55 Grandchildren, 106 Great Grandchildren, 12 Great-Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Conrad, son Marcel Gierszewski, sons-in-law:  David Retterath and Amos Pladson; daughter-in-law Marilyn Gierszewski, grandsons: Steven Gierszewski, Travis Gierszewski and Mason Gierszewski, great grandson Chase Bailly; brothers: Raymond, Alfred Adelore, Alfred Edward, Rene and Wilmer and sisters: Helina, Eva, Amelia, Irene and Olivine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 P.M. with a rosary and prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at the St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery, Drayton, ND
