Edith J. Froiland, age 88 of Park River, ND, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Edith J. Froiland was born June 11, 1929 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Jens Albert and Laura (Vanderwaal) Froiland. She attended South Vesta Township Country School and graduated from Walsh County Agricultural School. She then attended Aaker’s Business School in Grand Forks. In May of 1949 she started working in the offices of the North Dakota State Mill and Elevator. She retired from the ND State Mill and Elevator in 1998. Edith moved to Park River in 2003 and lived with her sister Frances Kjelland until Frances’ death. Edith continued to live in rural Park River and she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 2013.

She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, the Business and Professional Women and Sons of Norway. She was very close to her family and would visit them often. She enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and musicals, doing embroidery, and sewing.

Edith is survived by her nephews and niece: Gary Seboe, Park River, ND; Alan Seboe, Park River, ND; Keith (Cherie) Kjelland, Drayton, ND; Orville (Sheryl) Kjelland, Park River, ND; Marlene (Richard) Quanrud, Waconia, MN and James (Marlys) Kjelland, Park River, ND. Several great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Irene Seboe, Frances Kjelland and brother, John Froiland.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Golden Valley Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
