Edith L. Drevecky, age 96 of Adams, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center, Park River, North Dakota.
Edith Lillian Grove was born on August 30, 1926, in Adams Township to Elmer and Anna Grove. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural grade school at Benas Memorial School. Edith was a graduate of Adams High School, with the class of 1944. After graduation, Edith attended Aakers Business College and began working in Grand Forks.
Edith united in marriage to Marvin C. Drevecky on June 26, 1948 in Adams, ND. The couple raised their family on a dairy farm east of Adams. Marvin passed away in 1981. Edith moved to Park River in 1987. She worked at the Walsh County Senior Nutrition Program and also enjoyed working as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Society in Park River for more than 12 years.
Edith was a member of Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and WELCA, Kraft Klub, and the Adams American Legion Auxiliary. She loved gardening, canning and baking. She made the best cinnamon rolls and buns. In her retirement she traveled with friends and delighted in exploring yard sales, always on the lookout for a bear for her collection. Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but nothing came close to the joy she felt for her grandchildren. She proudly passed on the art of making lefse to her grandkids.
Edith is survived by her children: Susan (Bill) Grove, Kingsland, TX; Lance (Marian) Drevecky, Valley City, ND; Seanne Voracek, Grand Forks, ND; Kevin Drevecky, Adams, ND; Kent Drevecky, Osnabrock, ND; Sharalyn (Danny) Koppang, Adams, ND; daughter-in-law, Sandy Drevecky, Adams, ND. Eight grandchildren: Christina Grove (Mike Long), Lauren (Elliot) Byrd, Courtney (Nathan) Metzger, Dana Drevecky, Eden (Anthony) Cuypers, Ellen Drevecky, Erin McMullen, and Julia Koppang and two step grandchildren: Desi Adams and Heather Jacobson. Four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. Edith is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son Mark and infant granddaughter Abby. Edith was the last surviving m ember of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 15, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church, Adams, North Dakota. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the East Adams Cemetery, rural Adams, North Dakota. Memorials may be given to the East Adams Cemetery Fund or to the Park River Food Pantry.
