Earl H. Mondry, age 91 of Minto, ND, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Earl Mondry was born on the family farm in Ardoch Township, Ardoch, ND on February 21, 1926, the son of the late Harry and Frances (Zabinski) Mondry. He attended 123 country school and graduate from Minto High School in 1944. He joined the National Guard in 1946 and was drafted to serve in the Korean War in 1950. He received his orders to report for duty just days before his marriage to Anna Lessard on November 14, 1950 in Oakwood, ND. He was inducted into the service one week later. Upon return from serving in the Korean War, Anne and Earl made their home in Ardoch, ND and later Rural Minto where they farmed with the family until 1997.
He was a member of the Minto American Legion Post 201, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Ardoch and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Earl was known for his strong commitment to his wife and family, passion for agriculture and farming and for his very firm handshake and dedicated eye to eye greeting and conversation.
Earl is survived by his wife Anne Mondry, Grafton, ND, children: Ken (Peggy) Mondry, Fargo, ND, Kathy (Duane) Midboe, Climax, MN, Kristine (Ken) Pederson, Alexandria, MN and Kevin Mondry, Minto, ND; grandchildren: Nathan Mondry, Shannon Mondry, Jaren Mondry, Jarrod Midboe, Karissa Youra, Justin Midboe, James Midboe, Cameron Pederson, Kayla Pederson, Connor Pederson, Preston, Brandon and Carly Mondry, 13 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren; siblings Cyril “Bud” (JoAnne) Mondry, Oslo, MN, Fred (Arlene) Mondry, Ardoch/Minto, ND and Dorothy (Allen) Berg, Turlock, CA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 with a prayer service at 5:00 P.M. at the church. Friends may also call at the church for one prior to the service at the church. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Cemetery, the St. Gianna’s Maternity Home or Fr. Timothy Schroeder’s Haiti Fund. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Minto.
