Earl D. Erickson, age 79 of Park River, ND passed away on Friday April 29, 2011 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Earl D. Erickson was born February 4, 1932 in Moorhead, MN the son of LeRoy and Adelaide (L'Allier) Erickson. He graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1950 and attended the School of Forestry in Bottineau, ND for two years. Earl served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He was united in marriage to Coral White on Dec. 26, 1952. Following his discharge from the Air Force he attended the North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo and received a degree in General Agriculture in March of 1959. He worked as a soil conservationist for the US Department of Agriculture in Havre, Baker, Malta, Circle, Bozeman and Great Falls, MT. He later worked for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, CA until retiring in 1989 and returning to Park River. He was a life member of the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147 of Park River, ND and the Elks Lodge. He is survived by his mother Adelaide Erickson, Park River, ND; his children: Jane (Keith) Olson, Goodyear, AZ; Tom (Cheryl) Erickson, Aspen, CO; Ann (David) Ketelsleger, Edmond, OK; five grandchildren and sister Jean (Robert) Sobolik, Grass Valley, CA. He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy, son Larry and Sister Marceline Espe. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River and Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Paul Farup American Legion Post or a charity of the donor's choice.
