Duane C. Tollefson

Duane C. Tollefson, age 94 of Park River, ND and Edmore, ND passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Duane C. Tollefson was born August 9, 1925 in Park River, ND the son of the late Arthur and Alvilde (Jenson) Tollefson. He attended Highland elementary school. Following his education he started farming with his parents near Edmore, ND. Duane was united in marriage to Mary Jane Kalgard Flaten on June 9, 1974 in Park River, ND. The couple made their home on the Kalgard Farm near Park River. He continued to farm near Edmore as well as farm and raise cattle near Park River until slowing phasing out of farming in the early 2000’s when the couple moved into Park River.

Duane was a member of the Victory Free Lutheran Church in Park River. He served as a Boy Scout Leader and taught Sunday school and Youth Group in Edmore. He was an avid horseman and was especially fond of his horse “Goldie”. The couple loved to travel, especially to visit family. In his later years he was involved with the Jail Ministry in Devils Lake, ND.

Duane is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, Park River, ND; his daughter; Deborah (Ross) Manni, Star Prairie, WI; step-children: Rev. Mark (Carol) Flaten, Finley, ND; Robert (Sandy) Flaten, Park River, ND; Janelle (Brian) Brodon; FL; grandchildren: Britta & Jaxon Manni, Joy Solano, Anna Lassonde; Sarah McKay; Rachel Trottier; Stephanie Hawkins; Sean Misner; 13 great grandchildren and sister: Lorrayne Vogel, Amarillo, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son, Stephen Flaten; sister, Joyce Hammond and brother, Donald Tollefson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Victory Free Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Edmore Cemetery, Edmore, ND.
