Duane W. McKay, age 79 of Milton, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, ND. Duane W. McKay was born November 11, 1928 in Grand Forks, ND the son of the late Chester and Viola (Hawbaker) McKay. He attended rural school in East Alma Township and graduated from Milton High School in 1947. Duane was united in marriage to June Anderson on June 1, 1952 at the Milton Presbyterian Church. The couple farmed in East Alma Township until retiring in the early 1980???s. He also drove school bus for the Milton Public School for 25 years.
Duane was a member of the former Milton Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder for many years. He was a member of the Milton Rural Fire Department, served on the Milton Memorial Cemetery Board and served as East Alma Township Supervisor for many years.
He is survived by his wife June of Milton, ND; son Jeff (Deb) McKay, Grafton, ND; two granddaughters: Alisa and Jenna McKay, Grafton, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lola Throndset.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Milton Lutheran Church, Milton, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00-7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the church in Milton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Milton Memorial Cemetery, Milton, ND.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg is in charge of the arrangements.
