Douglas Shane Kearney

Douglas S. Kearney, age 63 of Forest River, North Dakota passed away Friday, October 30, 2026 at his home in Forest River.

Douglas Shane Kearney was born September 16, 1963 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Robert Kearney and the late Louise A. (Brevik) Kearney. He attended school in Visalia, California and graduated from Mt. Whitney High School. After his schooling he began working as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union in Visalia. He later moved to Washington where he worked various jobs in the state and began his career as a painter. While living in Washington, Douglas welcomed his daughter, Tessa. Douglas eventually moved to North Dakota where he began working for Jarl Pederson along with other painting companies in the area.

He enjoyed working in his yard, building things, his ATV, sports and watching NASCAR. Most of all Douglas loved being with his family, especially his daughter Tessa and his grandchildren.

Douglas is survived by his daughter, Tessa Jennings, Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Brynlee, Lincoln and Adleigh; step-daughter Amanda Knight, Texas; father Robert Kearney, Bonney Lake, WA; brother Craig (Marie) Kearney, Bonney Lake, WA. He is also survived by numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother Louise A. Kearney.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
