Dorothy A. Wilson

Dorothy A. Wilson, age 90 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, January 04, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Dorothy Ann Kennedy Wilson was born February 28, 1924 on the family farm near Voss, ND. She was the second child of Jack and Elizabeth (Paur) Kennedy and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Dorothy attended school at Voss and graduated from the W.C.A.S. in Park River. She attended Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks. During her education, student nurses were recruited to care for wounded soldiers during World War II. She served at Bushnell Army Hospital in Utah as a Nurse Cadet. Upon her return, Dorothy completed her education and began a long and successful career as an RN in Grafton, retiring in 1989 as Director of Nursing. She was a lifetime member of the Unity Medical Foundation and she touched many lives during her nursing career. Faith, family and community were also important to Dorothy. On July 28, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Warren Stanley Wilson. They had four children, Mary Beth (Maurice) Feltman; Patricia (Larry) Green, Joan Wilson (Terry) Swanson and Wesley J. (Robin) Wilson. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Andrea & David Green, Jeffrey & Jeremy Swanson and Alexander & Spencer Wilson; sister-in-law, Mary Kennedy and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Warren and sisters: Jeanette Flaagan, Laurayne Bothun and her brother Wenzl Kennedy. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
