Dorothy A. Wentz

Dorothy A. Wentz, age 93 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Dorothy A. Altendorf was born October 12, 1920 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Nicholas L. and Anna (Ruminski) Altendorf. She grew up and attended school here, graduating from Grafton High School. She later attended St. Benedict's College near St. Cloud, MN. Dorothy returned home and was united in marriage to Willard W. "Sonny" Wentz on April 25, 1942 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton where Dorothy worked for the Walsh County Record, Quad County Self Help and the City of Grafton. Willard passed away in March of 1987. Dorothy moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in February of 2011. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society. Dorothy is survived by her children: JoAnn (Pat) Beale, Huntington Beach, CA; Gregory J. Wentz (Dr. Christie Iverson), Bismarck, ND; Thomas L. Wentz, Texas, Mary Jeanne Wentz, Fargo, ND; Susan B. Kessler, San Antonio, TX. eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Ed, Joe, Lee, Vic, Nick and Richard and sisters: Helen, Mary and Jeanne. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
