Dorothy Genevieve Slominski

Dorothy G. Slominski, age 94 of Minto, ND passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home in Minto.

Dorothy Genevieve Helmowski was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Forest River Township, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Osowski) Helmowski. She attended Forest River School Dist. #88. Dorothy was united in marriage to Stanley S. Slominski on February 16, 1943 in Minto, ND. The couple made their home in Minto. Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide at the Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks and at the Developmental Center in Grafton for many years. Stanley passed away on Oct. 23, 1995.

Dorothy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society of Minto, the Grafton Eagle’s Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Minto Degree of Honor #5, the Foxy Four Square Dance Club. She enjoyed playing cards at the Minto Golden Age Senior Citizens, and going to the lake cabin with her family. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, gardening and growing many different kinds of plants and flowers.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Ernie (Jane) Slominski, Park River, ND; David (Deborah) Slominski, Ardoch, ND; six grandchildren: Ron (Natalie) Slominski, Jessica (Matt) Swartz, Anne (Dale) Gerszewski, Genevieve, Carl and Aaron Slominski and six great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Theodore and sisters: Eleanor Perkerwicz and Delores Jelinek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND.
