Dorothy M. Slama, age 92 of Cavalier, ND and formerly of Milton, ND passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Wedgewood Manor of Cavalier, ND. Dorothy M. Skaro was born November 20, 1916 in Milton, ND the daughter of the late Martin and Rowena (Stewart) Skaro. She grew up and attended school there. Following her education she worked as a housekeeper in Milton. She married Frank G. Slama on November 5, 1936 in Park River, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Milton. She was employed at the Good Samaritan Center in Osnabrock, ND and the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home of Mountain. The couple moved into Milton in 1959. Frank passed away on July 5, 1982 and Dorothy moved to Cavalier, ND in 2003. In January of 2006 she moved to the Wedgewood Manor.
Dorothy was a member of the former St. Clothilde Catholic Church in Milton. She was a charter member of the Hilltop Senior Citizens and a member of the Eagelson-Melling American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Richard F. Slama, Milton, ND; Judith (Richard) Kotaska, Procter, MN; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, siblings: Donna Slotto, Cavalier, ND; Ronald Skaro, Fargo, ND; Betty Riske, Grafton, ND and Jean Markel, St. Thomas, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, four brothers and four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the St Brigid's Catholic Church of Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery of Osnabrock, ND.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg is in charge of the arrangements.
