Dorothy Ann Kosobud, age 89 of Park River and formerly of Lankin, ND passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center, following a four month illness.
Dorothy was born February 26, 1928 to Adolph and Mary (Matejcek) Dvorak in Prairie Center Township, Walsh County, rural Veseleyville, ND. She attended District#12 for grades 1-7 and completed the 8th grade at Prairie Center School #6. On May 12, 1954 Dorothy married Rudolph Bosh. He passed away October 18, 1959. On November 10, 1960 she married John T. Kosobud at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne, rural Lankin, ND. They made their home, farmed the land and raised their family on the Kosobud Homestead, west of Lankin. In 1989 they moved from the farm to Lankin and resided there until November of 2015 when they moved to Sunrise Estates Senior Living in Park River.
Dorothy was a former member of the Altar Society of both Bechyne and Lankin. She was also a member of the Lankin American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as cooking and baking. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed making dumplings, rolls and kolaches. There was never a shortage of food and no one ever left the table hungry. Crocheting beautiful afghans and doilies was a favorite hobby, as well as keeping up a daily diary for almost 50 years. She enjoyed music, especially listening and dancing to polkas and waltzes and would, on occasion, play her harmonica.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John, Park River, ND; son, Roger (Audrey) Kosobud, Fargo, ND; daughter, Shirley (Randy) Setness, Gilbert, AZ; son, Maynard (Karen) Bosh, Mesa, AZ; son, Remy (Sherry) Bosh Fargo, ND; and daughter, Betty (Dan) Koenig, Park River, ND. She is also survived by13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Adelaide Dvorak, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rudolph, five brothers: Adolph, Albert, Henry, Hubert and Leonard and four sisters: Mary Votava, Anna Praska, Rose Beneda and Marcella Kalash.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Park River, ND. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday with a prayer service to follow. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND.
