Dorothy E. Anderson

Dorothy E. (Hedman) Anderson, Grafton, ND, originally from Drayton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton, ND at the remarkable age of 90. Dorothy was born February 24, 1920 to Carl and Florence (Peterson) Hedman in Guthrie, MN. She graduated from Drayton High School in 1938. Dorothy married Donald H. Anderson in 1939, lived and raised their family in Drayton, and moved to Grafton in 2002 to live closer to their daughter Tami. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1989. Dorothy was best known as a loving wife and mother and her Christianity made her a very thoughtful and positive person, never putting herself first. "Dot" was an avid reader, wonderful cook, green thumbed gardener, animal lover, and faithful fan of the Minnesota Twins. Dorothy had a lifetime of good friends while in Drayton, but gained many new friendships while living in Hancock Place in Grafton. The family would like to extend their thanks to all her neighbors for always making sure she had the paper, her mail, treats and visits. Dorothy is survived by her four daughters: Barbara (Roger) Steenerson, Minot, ND; Faye (Wayne) Roberson, Crestline, CA; Joei (Joe) Murphy, Gold Canyon, AZ and Tami (Wayne) Egeland, Grafton, ND; one sister Verna (Bill) Walden, Roanoke, TX; four grandchildren: Cindi (Pat) Schmidt, Minot, ND; Brian (Leanne) Steenerson, Minot, ND; Jason (Angela) LaBounty, Huntington Beach, CA; Slade (Laura) Murphy, Bonney Lake, WA; six great grandchildren: Tyler and Shane Steenerson, Landon and Gavin Murphy, Boon and Whitman LaBounty. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter and two brothers: Harland and Marvin Hedman. Funeral services will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Drayton Lutheran Church of Drayton, ND. Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Skjeberg Lutheran Cemetery, rural Drayton, ND.
