Doris Burbidge

Doris L. Burbidge, age 97 of Park River, ND, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.

Doris Larson was born March 20, 1919 in Warren, MN, the daughter of the late M. Melville and Allie (Rosendahl) Larson. She graduated from Fargo Central High School and the Dakota Business College. Following her education she worked for a short time at a law firm in Fargo. She was united in marriage to Arden Burbidge on November 24, 1945 in Fargo. The couple lived and farmed in the Park River area and she worked in the farm office. Arden passed away on November 23, 1986. Doris continued to make her home on the farm until moving to Park River in 2004. She moved into the Park River Good Samaritan Center in 2011.

Doris was an active member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran church of Park River where she had been Sunday School Treasurer, Ladies Aide President and co-organist among other activities. She was a 50+ member of Chapter Q, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and was a past member of Mary C Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a 4-H leader for many years.

Doris is survived by her daughter Becky (Jerry) Maier, Stillwater, MN, grandchildren: Ben (Elizabeth) Maier and Kate Maier, great grandchildren: Jordan and Zachary Maier, brother-in-law Joseph Skodje, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arden, brothers: Verne M and Milton E Larson, and sister Helen Skodje.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River. The family requests any memorials to be given to the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or the Park River Good Samaritan Center.
