Donna E. Tusow

Donna Ethel Tusow, age 78, of Grafton, ND died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home. Donna Ethel, daughter of Miller and Edna Dawson was born January 30, 1932 in Oakes, ND. Donna graduated from Brampton High School in ND. On October 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dale Roberts Tusow in Webster, SD and together they had 6 children. During Dale's service in the Korean War, Donna supported the efforts by loading machine gun belts at a munitions factory in Igloo, SD. After Dale's return they found themselves living in McAllen, TX, International Falls, MN, Clearbrook, MN, and finally Hallock, MN while Dale was employed with the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service. During this time she was a homemaker and spent time volunteering at her church. While in Hallock, she was employed as a nurse's aide at Kittson Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home and was a volunteer Emergency Medical Technican and EMT training instructor. She was actively involved in the community in Hallock for 29 years. In early 2004 she moved to Grafton, ND. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and watching sports (in particular Brett Favre!) She was an avid reader and had a great interest in world events, politics and local history. Spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up with all of their activities was one of her greatest joys. She will be deeply missed by her children, Bradley (Sandy) of International Falls, MN, Linda (Ray) Lutovsky of Veseleyville, ND, Terry Tusow of Grand Forks, ND, Bruce of Hitterdal, MN, Bryan (Kate) of Perham, MN ; 7 grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, and Jacob Lutovsky, Dawson, Natalie and Norah Tusow, and Mitchell VanCamp; two step-grandchildren Janell and Dylan Ice. Funeral services will be Monday, March 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
