Donna M. Rose, age 91 of Fargo, ND and formerly of Lankin, ND passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Villa Maria Nursing Home of Fargo. Donna Marie Sherek was born January 1, 1921 in Norton Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Michael and Emma (Karas) Sherek. She grew up in the Lankin area and after graduating from High School in 1939 she moved to Bellingham, WA where she worked during the war. She later moved to St. Paul, MN where she was employed. Donna married James Rose on June 19, 1946 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Lankin where she worked at the Matejcek Super Valu for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. James died August 5, 1991. She moved to Bethany Towers in Fargo in 1999 and in 2006 she moved to Villa Maria. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, the ZCBJ Kosobud Lodge and the Lankin American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her vegetable garden, canning, baking and old time music, embroidery and photography. She never missed a Lankin basketball game and took in many of the school activities. Donna is survived by two nephews: Norman (Donna Jo) Trenda, Jamestown, ND; Dennis (Jill) Trenda, Hoople, ND; niece: Katherine (Rudy) Suda, Borup, MN. She was preceded by her parents, husband and two sisters: Anna and Lorraine (Robert) Trenda. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ada, MN. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Villa Maria and Bethany Towers who took such good care of Donna while she lived there.
