Donald T Skorheim

Donald T. Skorheim, age 96 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Donald Skorheim was born May 17, 1923 in Dwight, ND, the son of the late Henry O. and Tilda (Johnson) Skorheim. He attended country school at the Hoff School and later graduated from Adams High School. He then served in the US Army. Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Thelma Vogsland on September 1, 1950 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Grafton. The couple made their home in California for 47 years where he was employed as a Pontiac mechanic. The couple returned to Grafton in 2001.

He was a member of the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND. He was a devout Christian, husband and father. He enjoyed golfing and had 2 holes-in-one.

Don is survived by his son Mark (Donna) Skorheim, Tyler, TX as well as numerous Skorheim and Vogsland nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma, and brothers: Kenneth, Henry “Bud”, Dennis, Harvey, and Ray.

A private family service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Interment will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday and the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hoople. Military rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Bethel Free Lutheran Church. All attendants of the public visitation and interment services are required to wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines.
