Donald D. Machovsky

Donald D. Machovsky, age 77 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Unity Medical Center of Grafton with his loved ones by his side.

Donald “Donny” Machovsky was born September 7, 1948 in Eden Township, Walsh County, North Dakota to the late Adolph and Agnes (Pohanka) Machovsky Johnson. Donny was raised and attended school in Park River and the Walsh County Agriculture School. After his education, he ventured out to Washington and worked for a number of years before returning to Park River in 1970.

Donny united in marriage to Lynda Brandt on September 9, 1977 in Polk County, MN. They made their home in Grand Forks, before locating to Aurora, SD. Donny worked for Royal Plastics in Brookings, SD for 30 years. In 2016, Donny and Lynda moved to Knoxville, IA to be closer to family. Lynda passed way in 2017 and Donny returned to Grafton.

Donny enjoyed attending dirt track races every weekend for many, many years, mostly at Mainly Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD. He also loved watching World of Outlaws sprint cars. Donny made many memories fishing with his boys, going to bingo, and playing cards with family and taking Diane’s quarters!

Donny is survived by his children: Brian (Tracie) Machovsky, Jeff (Michele) Machovsky, and David (Emina) Machovsky; grandchildren: Jordan (Genni) and their children Katie, James, and Mary; Sydney, and Madison; significant other, Diane Brandt; siblings: Janet Riske, Bennie Machovsky, Allen Machovsky, and Darlene Leonard. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lynda, and siblings: Norman, Richard, Ruth, Henrietta, and Dennis.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at that time at Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hoople, ND.
