Derek John Szklarski

Derek John Szklarski, 23 of Grafton, ND passed away at his home in Grafton. Derek John Szklarski was born November 9, 1989 in Grafton, ND the son of Allan and Susan (Keeley) Szklarski. He attended schools in Grafton and graduated from Burdick Job Corp in Minot, ND for Welding. He worked at Deek's Pizza in Grand Forks. He returned to Burdick Job Corp for training in Auto Mechanic's. He returned to Grafton this spring and was currently working at American Crystal Sugar in Drayton. Derek was united in marriage to Chrissy Kavonius on July 14, 2012. Derek was active in the Scouting program in Grafton. He loved music and taught himself how to play the guitar. He played with a band in Minot. He enjoyed playing video games. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Minot and served as a Senior Ambassador for Job Corp in Minot. Derek is survived by his wife Chrissy, who is expecting their son in February, of Rollette, ND; parents Allan and Susan Szklarski, Grafton, ND; siblings: David (Heather) Szklarski, Grafton, ND; Daniel ( Danayalita) Szklarski, Hoople, ND; Douglas Szklarski and Danielle Szklarski, both of Grafton, ND. He is also survived by his grandparents: Ray and Genny Keeley, Grafton, ND; John and Edwardine Szklarski, Stephen, MN; several aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews: Gavin and Landon Szklarski also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Nancy Keeley and great grandparents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Trenton, North Dakota.
