Dennis E. Follman, age 69 of Grafton, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Dennis Eugene Follman was born on May 7, 1942 in San Diego, CA, the son of the late H.E. "Buck" and Doris (Conway) Follman. Dennis attended Towner High School and graduated in 1960. From 1961-1964 he served in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, he married Frances Elaine Rhodes on June 29, 1963 in New Bern, NC. He then attended Minot State College and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1968, and in 1969 received his Master's Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Dennis went on to graduate from UNC in 1974 with a Doctorate of Special Education. Following his graduation from UNC, Dennis moved to Grafton where he took a position with the Grafton State School as Director of Resident Education. Dennis loved the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, going to gun shows, and spending time with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren: his granddaughter Meghan, his late grandson Dylan, and his great granddaughter Emma. Dennis also loved spending time at the lake, sitting around the campfire with his family, and a good political debate. He is survived by his wife Elaine Follman, Grafton, ND, son Bob Follman, Grand Forks, ND, daughter Cathy (Darrin) Cox, Battle Lake, MN, brother Kenny Follman, Towner, ND, granddaughter Meghan (Matt) Gronbeck, Fargo, ND and great granddaughter Emma Cox. He is also survived by many cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Doris Follman, and his grandson Dylan Cox. A memorial service will be held in Dennis's honor at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Military rights will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. An interment ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Amor Cemetery in Amor, MN.
