Delores J. Green, age 81 of St. Thomas, North Dakota passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Sanford Hospital of Fargo, North Dakota. Delores J. Mattson was born March 23, 1932 in Midland Township of Pembina County, the daughter of the late Torbies and Sophie (Arneson) Mattson. She attended rural school in Midland Township. Following her education, Delores worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Grafton. She was united in marriage to Manvel Green on June 29, 1952 at the Grafton Lutheran Parsonage. The couple lived in Elizabethtown, KY from 1952-1954 while Manvel served in the United States Army. Following his discharge the couple returned to St. Thomas where they lived and farmed. Delores loved to help Manvel on the farm and was known to be a great truck driver. She later attended the University of North Dakota Art School. She was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and UMW, a charter member of the St. Thomas Culture and Hobby Guild and the St. Thomas American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid sportswoman and enjoyed golfing, bowling and softball. While her children were growing up, she served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Delores is survived by her husband, Manvel Green, St. Thomas, ND; children: Robert (Susan) Green, St. Thomas, ND; Dr. Pamela Green (David Warner), Medicine Lake, MN; Karen (Dr. Tom) Ehrhard, Fredericksburg, VA; her mother-in-law, Johanna Green, Grafton, ND; nine grandchildren: Sean (Teresa) Dunn, Nathan (Melissa) Green, Kara (James) Hembree, Timothy (Erin) Dunn, Dr. Matthew Green, Andy (Brittany) Ehrhard, Zach Ehrhard, Charlie Warner and Ellie Warner, seven great grandchildren: Katelyn and Lauren Dunn, Samuel, Jack and Benjamin Green, Sawyer and Mya Hembree, her siblings, Ted (Donna) Mattson, Fontana, CA; Lorraine (Harris) Olson, Drayton, ND; James (Ruth) Mattson, Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Laurel Dunn, grandson, Ian Dunn, sisters: Edith Coulthart, Helen Mattson and Joyce Schaefer, brothers: Vernon, Wallace and Daniel Mattson. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Thomas City Cemetery.
