Delores Lucille Evenson

Delores L. Evenson, age 93 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

Delores Lucille Gjevre was born May 31, 1923 at rural Hoople, ND the daughter of the late Andrew and Jeanette (Tweten) Gjevre. She attended the Gryde School in rural Hoople and Hoople High School for one year. She grew up on the Gjevre family farm, helping with the farm chores, gardening and playing with the family dog, Sport. She married Torfin Evenson on December 7, 1945 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage of rural Hoople. The couple made their home in Fargo while Torfin attended NDAC. Following graduation the couple moved to Minto, ND where Torfin taught vocational agriculture at the Minto High School from 1949-1954. They moved to Park River, ND where Torfin worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 24 years. They built their home in Grafton and in 1972 they moved to Grafton. Delores worked for the Grafton Developmental Center as a CNA for 25 retiring in 1993.

Delores was a member of the Grafton Assembly of God Church, receiving Christ as her Savior in the early 1960’s.

Delores is survived by her children: Terry Evenson, Grafton, ND; Deanna (Nick) Painovich, Williams, MN; five grandchildren: Shawn Evenson, Surprise, AZ, Troy Evenson, West Fargo, ND; Kristy Kupsc, International Falls, MN; Ryan Thomas, Williams, MN; Blaine Thomas, Blaine, MN; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2008, brothers: Arvid, Clinton, and Maynard Gjevre and sisters: Evelyn Barstad and Irene Kristofferson. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grafton Assembly of God Church, 1593 Griggs Ave. Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Hoople, ND.
