Delia Swartz

Delia Swartz, age 91 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Delia Vislisel was born October 27, 1918 near Pisek, ND the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Studeny) Vislisel. She attended school in Pisek. Following her education she was united in marriage to Martin Swartz on May 1, 1939 in Pisek. The couple lived in Grand Forks until 1941when they started farming near Pisek. In 1961 they moved to Lankin and farmed there until his death on May 18, 1982. Delia lived on the farm near Lankin until 1994 when she moved into the Evergreen Apartments in Park River. In 2004 she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River. Delia was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society of Park River, ND; a former member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Pisek and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Lankin, ND. Delia is survived by her children: Allen (Elaine) Swartz, Shirley Peterka and Sandra Rostvet, all of Park River, ND; 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and sister Florence Peterka of Park River. Delia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three grandchildren and brother Julius. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Pisek.
