Debra S. Johnson

Debra S. Johnson, age 62 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at her home.

Debra Sue Bender was born October 22, 1957 in Rapid City, SD the daughter of the late Lawrence and Adahnel (Johnson) Bender.  She grew up in South Dakota, Okinawa, Japan, Florida and Alabama before settling in the Edinburg area, where she graduated the class of 1975.  Debra was united in marriage to Sam Johnson on December 9, 1977 in Hamilton, ND.  Debra and Sam lived and raised their three children in the Edinburg area.   Debra worked for Citizen’s State Bank of Edinburg and Northern States Insurance Services of Grafton. She was a member of the Edinburg Quick Response, the Legion Auxiliary, and of Pembina Hills Lutheran Church.  Debra’s greatest joy was her family and having fun with them.

She is survived by her husband, Sam, Edinburg, ND; her children: Shane (Lyana) Johnson, Edinburg, ND; Shauna (Tom) Lizakowski, Minto, ND; Shannan (Kyle) Hoselton, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Shaye, Aubree, Austin and Izak; siblings: Connie Helle, Grafton, ND; Mike (Debbie) Bender, Minto, ND; brother-in-laws: Kenny Thomasson, Moorhead, MN, Bob (Luann) Johnson, Cavalier, ND; sister-in-law: Karen (Garnet) Fraser, Walhalla, ND.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws: Carl and Gunna Johnson, sister: Judi Thomasson, brother-in-law: Odean Johnson, and nephew; Greg Helle.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
