Debra Kay Cook, age 59, of Walhalla, ND went home to be with Jesus after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on January 9, 2017 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
Debra (Debbie) Kay Phillips was born May 22, 1957 in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Fay Andrew and Flora Eulene (Patterson) Phillips, Debbie was one of eight children. She graduated from McLoud High School in 1975. Debbie was united in marriage to Garfield “Guff” Cook on May 7, 1993 in Oklahoma. Debbie retired from TDK in Shawnee before moving to North Dakota with her husband in 1994. She worked for U.P.S and GHY. She was an amazing woman whose sense of humor and laughter brought joy to everyone who knew her. Debbie loved her family very deeply and put them first and foremost in her life and had a real sparkle when talking about her grandchildren. She loved animals of all kinds but was especially fond of horses.
She is survived by her mother, Flora Phillips; husband, Garfield “Guff” Cook; sons: Chad (Laura) Beeson and Brad Beeson; step-daughters: Tracy (John) Dalsted and Jessie Cook; grandchildren: Sophia Nicole Beeson, Harlee Kay Beeson, Daylon Patrick Beeson, Lindsey Dalsted, Mason Dalsted and Noah Bartolomei; great granddaughter: Loa Evelyn Landis; six sisters: Donna Washburn, Linda Liles, Sheila Van Brunt, Lisa (Scott) Alexander, Veronica (Jay) Taylor and her beloved only brother, Jonathan (John) Phillips. Several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Fay Phillips, sister, Kathryn Knowlton, nephew, Aaron Robbins and one grandchild.
Memorial services will be Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the church in Walhalla.
