Dawn Decel Hell

Dawn D. Hell, age 55, of Park River, passed away, Friday, October 18, 2013 with her family at her side, after a long courageous five year battle with cancer at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Dawn Decel Helland was born October 19, 1957 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Oivind and Patsy (Christian) Helland. She lived in Hunter, ND for ten years before moving to Park River. She graduated from the Park River High School in 1975. She worked for the Grafton Developmental Center, Friendship and most recently the Park River Good Samaritan Center, where she continued to work until her health forced her to quit. Dawn was blessed with two sons and one daughter, who were the highlight of her life along with her grandchildren. Dawn was a member of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, was involved in a lot of Bible study groups in the church and was a member of the faith and care groups in the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crafts, ceramics, gardening and her cats. Dawn is survived by her children: Cory (Jill) Hell, Park River, ND; Matthew Hell (Cally Odstrcil), Park River, ND; Amber Johnson (Andrew Johnson), Park River, ND; grandchildren: Zach, Gavin and Jax Hell; parents, Oivind and Patsy Helland, Park River; siblings: Tami (Terry) Lund, Park River, ND; Faye Soukup, Park River, ND and Gary (Michelle) Helland, Pembina, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, nephew Anthony Helland and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
