David John Slominski

March 25, 1954 — August 31, 2017

David John Slominski, also known as Dave or Davey, age 63 of rural Ardoch, ND, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his home.
David John Slominski was born March 25, 1954 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Stanley and Dorothy (Helmowski) Slominski. He attended school in Minto, ND.  When he was young, his grandmother, Mary Helmowski, who was very special to him, lived with his family. He enrolled in the U.S. Army and served from 1971-1973. David was united in marriage to Deborah Paschke on July 14, 1978 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ardoch. He returned to the Minto area working for his father and surrounding farmers and Peterson Construction Company. He currently worked for Schanilec Farms and Forest River Bean Company where he had worked for 38 years.
He was a member of the Minto American Legion and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto, ND. He loved spending time with his family at the Island Lake, MN Cabin. He taught his children to fish and hunt, his favorite past time. He loved vacation, road trips and going to Young’s Bay with his daughter and son-in-law and fishing with his kids on the local rivers.
David is survived by his wife, Deb Slominski, Ardoch, ND; his children: Anne Marie (Dale) Gerszewski, Warsaw, ND; Genevieve Mary Slominski, rural Maddock, ND; Carl David Slominski, Forest River, ND; Aaron Peter Slominski, Williston, ND and three grandchildren; brother, Ernie (Jane) Slominski, Park River, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 4, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Interment will be at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Altru Hospice or St. Gianna’s Maternity Home, Warsaw, ND.
