With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Glenn Schnetzer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Born on June 14, 1955, in Mexico, Missouri, to Hubert and Juanita Schnetzer, David graduated from Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1973. David proudly served in the US Army, and at the end of his service to his country, he was honorably discharged. In 1979, he earned a degree in Mechanics from Lake Region State College and retired from Marvin Windows and Doors in 2020 due to health reasons.
David had a passion for camping, fishing, gardening, and solving puzzles. He especially cherished the time spent with his loving wife Mary, his daughter Angel, and his grandchildren. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, David delighted in telling jokes and cruising around Grafton, North Dakota. In 1974, he settled in Grafton and met Mary at Associated Potato. They married on October 19, 1974, and welcomed their only child, Angel, on March 23, 1975.
David is survived by his daughter Angel (Shane) Schrank; his grandchildren Alex (Jessica) Schnetzer, Madyson (Bill) Scrivener, Waylon Schrank, and Wyatt Schrank; and his great-grandchildren Peyhton Schnetzer and Odin Schnetzer. He is also survived by his siblings Cheryl Buswell, Donna Ladoucer, and Mike (Kathy) Schnetzer, as well as his sisters-in-law Norma Czapiewski, Elaine (Oral) Nikle and Eileen Vondra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Juanita Schnetzer; his beloved wife, Mary Schnetzer; his sisters Debra and Celia Schnetzer; his nephews Larry Jay Ladoucer and Terry Joe Vondra; niece Laurie Buswell; his great nephew Cody Martinson; his brother-in-law Morris Vondra; and his sister-in-law Jeannette Longtine.
David will be fondly remembered for his warm personality, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 with a time of sharing at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery of Grafton in the spring.
