In Loving Memory of David Michael Chimbur Jr.
October 30th 1979 – May 4th 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of David Chimbur Jr.—a beloved son, devoted husband, proud father, cherished brother, compassionate uncle, and loyal friend. David’s life was cut far too short, leaving an unfillable space in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
David was raised in Arizona, where he spent much of his life surrounded by the warmth of the desert and the closeness of family and lifelong friends. In 2019, driven by love and his deep devotion to those he held dear, David made the life-changing decision to move to North Dakota with his wife Jenn, his father David, and their daughter Piper. The move brought him closer to his brother Justin, his sisters Katie and Kayla, his sister-in-law Lindsay, and his brothers-in-law Tyler and Aaron—though to them, calling him a brother came effortlessly. It also reunited him with his nurturing mother Suzanne, his caring stepfather Michael, and a large extended family he treasured deeply. This move reflected David’s deep commitment to family, a value he held above everything else.
David had a rare gift for connection. He was the heart of every gathering, known for his infectious laugh, big personality, and kind, welcoming spirit.
David’s joyful spirit shined brightest on the Fourth of July—a holiday he transformed into an unforgettable tradition. After just one summer in Hoople, his yard became the go-to gathering spot, where friends, family, and neighbors came together to enjoy fireworks, great music, cold beer, and the kind of laughter that echoed into the night. It wasn’t just about the celebration—it was about the connection. David had a remarkable way of bringing people together, creating moments that felt effortless but left lasting memories.
David is survived by his loving wife Jenn and their beautiful daughter Piper, who is the very image of her father —from his smile and long legs to his vibrant spirit, sharp wit, and unmistakable spark. In her, David loop lives on, and she will forever be a shining reminder of the incredible man he was. He is also survived by his devoted mother Suzanne Bohn and caring stepfather Michael Bohn, and by his supportive father David Chimbur Sr. He leaves behind his beloved siblings: Justin Chimbur (Lindsay Chimbur—children Ellie, Brooke, and Mac), Katie Peterka (Aaron Peterka—son Dawson), and Kayla Almen (Tyler Almen—son Owen); as well as his sister-in-law Stacie Koller (Children; Mia and Brady). Beyond his immediate family, David touched the lives of many more—extended family and close friends who loved him like a brother and will carry his memory with them always.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the McIntyer in Hoople, North Dakota. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honor the incredible person he was.
David—your time with us was far too short, but the love, light, and laughter you brought into our lives will echo forever. We miss you deeply, and we’ll carry you with us always.
