Danny E. Lee

Danny E. Lee age 76, passed away on July 6th, 2023 in San Marcos, TX.

Danny was born on January 19th, 1947 in Grafton, ND to parents Albert and Lila (Wiste) Lee.

Most of his childhood was spent on the family farm in rural ND.  He graduated from Adams High School, Adams ND in 1965.  He attended Mayville State University, Mayville, ND where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.  He taught school in Fairdale, ND and Devils Lake, ND in the 1970’s.

After reaching his self-proclaimed “quota” of North Dakota winters, Danny migrated south and found his way to Texas. In 2010, he retired from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX after 20 years as Crew Supervisor of Control Room and Power Plant Operations.  After retirement, he would often remark that he couldn’t believe he ever had time to work, because he managed to keep his days very full and busy.

If you knew Danny, there is no doubt that he made you smile and laugh.  He was full of fun and had a life-of-the-party personality.  He always had an endless supply of jokes and funny stories ready to share.  He truly knew no strangers and loved talking with people.

He is survived by his children: Kristin (Darren) White, Brett (Melinda) Lee; step-children: Kenneth Chancellor, Donna Graham; his grandchildren: Hunter White, Connor White, Preston Lee, Lisa (Shaun) McKenzie, Ryan (Teila) Boatman; great-grandchildren: Logan Graham, Charlie Graham, Jensen McKenzie and brother, Donald Lee.   He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diana Bolen-Lee.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Danny on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 2985 42nd St South, Grand Forks, ND in the Bison conference room.  Burial will be August 3, 2024 at 4:00 pm in Vang Cemetery, Fairdale, ND.
