Daniel D. Mattson

Daniel D. Mattson, age 74 of Grafton passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Northwood Deaconess Heath Center, Northwood. Daniel D. Mattson was born November 28, 1936 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Torbies and Sophie (Arensen) Mattson. He was raised on the family farm between Grafton and Drayton, attending rural schools and graduating from Drayton High School in 1953. Following his education he sailed on the Great Lakes as a Merchant Marine. He moved to Anaheim, California and started working for Fleetwood Trailer Homes. He later became Production Manager, working in California and Napa, Idaho. He moved back to North Dakota and worked construction in the Drayton, St. Thomas and Grafton areas. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Albaugh in April of 1968. In 1971 he returned to California and worked in the Mobile Home Industry again. In 1991 he moved back to Grafton and in 2007 he moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home. Daniel is survived by his son Daniel D. Mattson, JR; Fargo, ND; step-children: Kevin L. Nelson, David Nelson, both of Grafton, ND; Clifford (Terri) Nelson, Minot, ND; Karen (Ron) Danielson, Esparta, CA; siblings; James (Ruth) Mattson, Grand Forks, ND; Theodore "Ted" (Donna) Mattson, Fontana, CA; Delores (Manvel) Green, St. Thomas, ND; and Lorraine (Harris) Olson, Drayton, ND; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Anna Marie; sisters: Helen, Edith and Joyce and brothers: Vernon and Wallace. Memorial services will be Wednesday, Septeber 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Landstad Cemetery, Auburn, ND.
