Daisy I. Haugland

Daisy Irene Haugland, age 102, of Grafton, formerly of Hoople, ND passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Daisy Irene Sandland was born October 23, 1911 in Piney, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of the late Henry and Inga (Torkelson) Sandland. She was baptized November 19, 1911 in Pine Creek, MN. Daisy grew up and attended school in Piney. In 1927, she moved to Lawton, ND with her parents. Daisy was united in marriage to Melvin Haugland in April 1933. The couple moved to Hoople in 1946. Daisy worked at the Hoople potato Wash Plant for 20 years. Melvin passed away May 27, 1986. In 2003, Daisy moved to the Villa de Reemer apartments and on June 14, 2004 she moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton. Daisy will always be remembered for your undying love for her family. She raised her six sons with all the love her heart could possibly hold. She was always so loving to her daughter-in-laws and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. She will be missed by all those who loved and knew her. Daisy is survived by her sons: Allen (Ann) Haugland, New Richmond, WI; Richard (Linda) Haugland, North Fort Meyers, FL; Roger (Lyla) Haugland, Devils Lake, ND; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters: Edith Larson, Michigan, ND; Mae Geer, Middle River, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin; sons: Harlan, Robert and Donald; sisters: Norma, Della, Lila; brothers: Earl, Kenneth, Leonard and one that died at birth. Memorial services will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery in the spring.
