Curtis L. Mohagen

Curtis L. Mohagen, age 80 of Fargo, North Dakota and formerly of Grafton passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway of Fargo. Curtis L. Mohagen, the son of the late Glen M. and Ida (Nelson) Mohagen, was born on February 17, 1933 in Grafton, ND. In 1956 Curtis was diagnosed as having suffered since birth from the previously unknown and therefore undiagnosed effects of Phenylketonuria (commonly known as PKU). He grew up in Grafton continuing to live with his parents until moving in 1958 to what is now the North Dakota Developmental Center. In 1987 Curtis moved to a REM-ND, Inc. residence in Grafton where he resided until February of 2012 when he moved to Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. For his entire life Curtis was adamant about attending or listening on the radio to church services. While a resident of REM-ND he regularly attended and thoroughly enjoyed services at Grafton Lutheran Church. He was also passionate about listening to and singing along with as much music as his caregivers could provide or possibly at times tolerate. Curtis was an ardent fan of and very seldom missed the Uncle Sig program on KXPO Radio and the Lawrence Welk Show. He also was a relentless consumer of soda "pop" which was his customary request whenever any caregiver or visitor was within hearing range. His final days were happily spent singing with his Hospice caregivers and listening to "church" music. Curtis is survived by his nephew: Rodger (Deborah) Mohagen of West Fargo, grand nephew: Thomas (Breanna) Mohagen of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gordon Mohagen and sister-in-law Marjorie Mohagen. Memorial services will be Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Grafton Lutheran Church.
