Craig M. Stuberg age 74 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the Unity Hospital of Grafton, ND.
Craig was born March 16th, 1949 to the late Louis Stuberg and Bonnie Gray. He grew up in Leeds, ND where he played basketball and baseball. He continued playing basketball at Bottineau Junior College. He attended Mayville State University, graduating with a degree in Education. He served in the Army National Guard for 9 years. He moved to St. Thomas, ND where he spent 36 years working at the St. Thomas School as a teacher and a coach. His students were his proudest accomplishment, and he continued to care about them into their adulthood; always ready with a hug, smile and visit.
He married Gail Gangl and had two daughters, Traci and Heidi. He later married Eleanor Dewar and became a dad to her children Lori, Jason, and Kimberly. Craig most enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his kids and grandkids, cheering for the Packers, relaxing on his deck, and taking his regular “spins” around the town and countryside. He had a positive attitude and kept everyone around him laughing.
He was a longtime member of the St. Thomas American Legion Ottum-Ball Post #168.
Craig will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Eleanor; children Traci (Curt) Berg, Heidi (Nathan) Knudsen, Jason (Katie) Dewar, Kimberly Anderson; son-in-law Tony (Tanya) Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bradley Stuberg, and daughter Lori Dewar Johnson.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 1;00 PM at the Grafton Armory, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the Armory. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery, St. Thomas, ND. Military Rites will be provided by the St. Thomas American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. A luncheon will be served at the St. Thomas American Legion.
Craig’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for him over the last 7 years as he battled cancer. We will forever appreciate your kindness.
