Clyde D. Burtt

Clyde D. Burtt, age 87 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Clyde D. Burtt was born October 22, 1927 to Hollis and Marion (Berg) Burtt. He grew up and attended schools in Walsh County. Following his education he served in the United States Military. Following his discharge he returned home and started farming with his uncle, Cliff Berg. Clyde was united in marriage to Marcene Klinicke Veum on December 30, 1976 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton. They spent their winter months in Mesa, AZ for many years. Marcene passed away on Jan. 4, 2013 and he moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in the spring of 2013. Clyde was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church, the Grafton American Legion and the Kem Temple Shrine. He is survived by his step-children: Roger Veum, Oceano, CA; Wanda (Bill) Nygard, Mitchell, SD, Sheryl (Andres) Owen, Gilbert, AZ and Sandra Johnson, Flowery Branch, GA, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marcene and step-son, Scott Veum. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
