Clifford A. Bailly

Clifford A. Bailly, age 82 of Grafton, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Clifford Andre Bailly was born on the farm in Bathgate, ND to the late Marcel and Anna Bailly. He was raised and attended school in Cavalier. He graduated with the class of 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was trained at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. He was then stationed in Hawaii where he served his country with honor until his discharge in 1966.

Clifford united in marriage to Mary Gierszewski on April 22, 1967 in Drayton, ND at St. Edward’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Grafton. Clifford worked at Grafton Appliance for 25 years, Clayton’s Appliance for 7 years and then Marvin Windows for ten years, before retiring.

Clifford enjoyed spending time camping, fishing, and hunting. He dedicated many hours to perfecting the art of reloading ammunition. His passion was his family and cherished time with his children and especially his grandchildren.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary of Grafton, ND; his children: Debra Bailly-Quirk, Fargo, ND, Kevin (Mhari) Bailly, Driscoll, ND, Louis (Jill) Bailly, Hartford, SD, Eric Bailly, Porterville, CA, Tim (Beth) Bailly, Alvarado, MN; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren; siblings: Dawn Bailly, Verlyn (Diane) Bailly, Ernie (Kathy) Bailly; and sister in law Sharon Bailly. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Chase, brothers: Richard, Raymond, and Leland, sister-in-law Pat Bailly, mother-in-law Edith Gierszewski and brothers-in-law: Marcel Gierszewski, Amos Pladson, and David Retterath.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery of Mandan at a later date. Clifford's service will be livestreamed via the Tollefson Funeral Home website.
