Clarice L. "Dolly" Halverson

Clarice L. “Dolly” Halverson, age 87 of Park River, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Clarice L. Gestson was born August 14, 1930 in Edinburg, ND the daughter of the late Johann and Alice (Peterson) Gestson. She graduated from Edinburg High School. Following her education she worked as a waitress at the café in Edinburg and also worked potato harvest. Clarice was united in marriage to Vernon Halverson on March 16, 1949 in Edinburg, ND. The couple made their home in Park River where Clarice worked as a clerk at the Johnson Store. She later worked as a cook at the Park River School, retiring in 2007. Vernon passed away on Nov. 12, 2000.

Clarice was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was a member of the Park River American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons: Russell (Gail) Halverson, East Grand Forks, MN; Duane (Monica) Halverson, Federal Way, WA; Paul (Jean) Halverson, Gilbert, AZ; and Dean (Maria) Halverson, Tacoma, WA; seven grandchildren: Justin, Matt, Jamie, Lisa, Lucas, Logan, Jalen; and four great grandchildren: Emery, Max, Bowie and Sydney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five siblings.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 at the Tollefson Funeral Home and Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
