Clara Coffey

Clara G. "Chub" Coffey, age 95 of Minto, ND, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. Clara G. Mach was born May 20, 1913 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Curtin) Mach. She attended schools in Warsaw, Grafton and graduated from Minto High School. She received her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teachers College. Clara was united in marriage to George Coffey on June 6, 1934 in Minto where the couple made their home. When her children were older she started teaching at the elementary school in Minto where she served as the school principal. She later taught and was principal at the Lidgerwood Elementary School until her retirement. The couple traveled until his death in December of 1972. She moved to Arizona and lived there until July of 2005 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.

Clara is survived by her children: Patricia (Frank) Pulju, Alexandria, VA; Judy Dolan, Grafton, ND; Michael (Kay) Coffey, Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Roberta, sons: George and Michael John, 10 brothers and sisters and son-in-law: Donald Dolan.

Clara has deeded her body to the University of North Dakota. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. at the Good Samaritan Center Chapel of Park River, ND.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
