Chad Lee Nelson, age 28 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Chad Lee Nelson was born February 10, 1981 in Minot, ND. He moved to Langdon, ND where he lived with Harold and Nancy Blanchard until he was eight years old. Chad then moved to Grafton, ND where he was adopted by Leon and Sherry Nelson. Chad attended and graduated from Grafton High School. He continued to reside at home until September of 2004 when he moved to the Grafton State Developmental Center and resided there until his death.
He was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church, the Aktion Club, and Community Helpers.
He volunteered with the Hospice Tree of Lights and at the Heritage Village.
He is survived by his mother Sherry of Grafton, ND; siblings: Jessica (Dan) Trought, Grand Forks, ND; Jason (Brittany) Nelson, Albuquerque, NM; Kristle Nelson, Grafton, ND; foster grandparents: Harold and Nancy Blanchard, Grafton, ND; grandmother Geneva Flaaskog, Grafton, ND.
He is also survived by one niece Jenevive Reck and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Leon, brother Robin Nelson and grandparents.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Union, ND.
