Cecil A. Novak

Cecil A. Novak, age 80 of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at his home in St. Thomas after a brief illness.

Cecil Albin Novak was born February 26, 1937 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Christopher and Mary (Hodny) Novak Sr. He grew up and attended school in Prairie Center Township, Walsh County, ND. Following his education he started working on the Gene Schanilec Farm. He married Pamela Lindgren on November 21, 1964. He later owned and operated the Veseleyville Store. Cecil married Betty Rudnik Walski on January 30, 1993 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home in St. Thomas. Cecil then worked for Paul Suda Farms until his retirement.

Cecil enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his garage. He loved spending time with his family.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Betty, St. Thomas, ND; his children: Heidi (Dan) Kihne, Neche, ND; Terri (Mike) Cicha, Iowa City, IA; David Novak, Coralville, IA; Mary Stark and Michael Walski, both of Grafton, ND; seven grandchildren: Brock and Blake Setness, Brandon Kihne, Zachary and Victoria Cicha, Lydia and Carther Stark; his sibilings: Eugenia Dvorak, Grafton, ND; Christopher Novak, JR, Pisek, ND; Ernest Novak (Helen Soderfelt), Veseleyville, ND; Geraldine (Warren) Konze, Grand Forks, ND; Leona Sparks, Michigan, ND; Donald (Janet) Novak, Veseleyville, ND; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Rudnik and sister-in-law, Dors Rudnik, both of Grafton, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Robert Novak and brother-in-law, Bennie Dvorak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery of Veseleyville.
