Carol Jean Torgerson

Carol Jean Englar was born June 13, 1939 in Minot, ND, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Etta Rose (Lindgron) Englar. She attended Minot elementary schools and graduated from Williston High School. Carol met her future husband, David Torgerson, while attending Bible College. They were united in marriage on September 23, 1960, in Garrison, ND. Carol worked alongside her husband as they entered ministry. Their children, Nita, Kevan and John were Carol's priorities and passion. Dave and Carol spent 50 years serving in ministry and retired to Edinburg, ND in 2015. Following a stroke, seven months ago, Carol has been a resident of Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND. Carol's love and commitment to her faith cultivated a legacy of prayer for her family and for those she served in ministry. Carol practiced prayer. She was constant in praying for the needs of her children, grandchildren, and women and families within their congregations. Carol was involved in children ministries. She was also active in leading women into a greater awareness of their life and faith journey. Carol is survived by her husband, David Torgerson, Edinburg, ND; children, daughter, Nita (Jim) Huisinga, son, Kevan (Lisa) Torgerson, Atlanta, GA; son, John (Kris) Torgerson, Ozark, MO; grandchildren: Shelly, Kristi, Kayla, Nathan, Abbye, Amye and Anna; great-children: Kellen, Sydney and Newton; siblings: Doris Rhode, Boise ID; Evelyn (Arnold) Brown, Martinsberg, WV; Donald (Eva) Englar, Minneapolis, MN; Connie Englar, Boise, ID and many nieces and nephews also survive. Carol's parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M at the church. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Sylvesta Cemetery, Fairdale, ND.
