Bruce C. Jackson, age 92 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Bruce Christopher Jackson was born July 24, 1923 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Ralph and Susie (Givens) Jackson. He attended schools in Grafton. In May of 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in September of 1943. Bruce was united in marriage to Doris Haug on August 1, 1952 in Crookston, MN. The couple lived in Grafton and Minot, ND. In 1960 they returned to Grafton and made their home here. Bruce owned and operated Jackson Sewing Machine Sales and Service. He specialized in Bernina Sewing machines. In the early 1960’s he also sold Watkin’s and Fuller Brush. Bruce and Doris retired in August of 2014 and moved to Grand Forks.
He was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton Eagle’s and the Grafton American Legion Post #41.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Grand Forks, ND; daughters: Bonnie Elde and Carol Papenfuss, both of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Korey (Wendy) Elde, Kelly Elde, Scott (Toni) Elde, Tim (Sarah) Elde, Christopher (Rebecca) Papenfuss and Jana (Austin) Theisen, great grandchildren: Brooke, Ethan, Ty, Carter, Kyia, Chloe, Leyton and Aliza. Bruce was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ralph and James and twin cousins: Dorothy Young and Mary Parkins.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, North Dakota. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
